What is “the will of God”?

I honestly think people just don’t read and study for themselves- because they simply don’t believe or don’t take Jesus seriously. I mean, He was very serious when He died a horrific death by crucifixion… so what’s the deal?

Don't you want to receive rewards on our judgment day? We could be going home literally any day now. Let's see what God's will for us is, according to the Bible.

(Colossians 4:12) "Epaphras" (lovely), who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always abounding fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."

1 Thessalonians 4:3 "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:"

1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

WASHED; and clean!

I never understood when people in this cult used the terminology “clean” because it isn’t Biblically accurate. If you don’t realize you are a wretched sinner, in desperate need of salvation and that is only through Jesus Christ, and you need to be saved from yourself, hell, the devil, your sins… I greatly fear for you! Let me tell you WHAT makes us clean and washed from our filth. The one thing most people will either reject or deny, and the one thing most people won’t take time to do.

1 Corinthians 6:11

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Challah!

 Numbers 15:20-21

20   Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as ye do the heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye heave it.

21   Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD an heave offering in your generations.

In Hebrew, the first letter of the word for each of these mitzvot spells a name: Chanah. The first letter of “challah” is a chet, the first letter of “nidah” is a nun, and the first letter of “hadlakathaner” is a hei. Chanah is of course spelled: chet nun hei.

Like in every word in Hebrew, the primary letter of Chanah is the first one, in our case the chet hich stands for challah. So, we will begin by looking at the mitzvah of challah. As we shall see later, the separation ofchallah relates specifically to our matriarch Rachel.

These three letters—yudhei, and vav—as they appear in G-d’s essential Name, correspond to the sefirotwisdom, understanding, and knowledge, respectively. Thus, the order of the feminine mitzvot based on the acronym Chanah (challahnidahhadlakat haner) is understanding-wisdom-knowledge, or hei-vav-yud, which arouses the faculty of might in the heart. So not only does the first letter of Chanah allude to the feminine sefirah of understanding, but the acronym as a whole alludes to the sefirah of might—the most feminine of the heart’s qualities.

The inner experience of might is “fear,” in the sense of fear, or awe, of the Almighty. Because of this, king Solomon says: “the woman who fears God is praiseworthy.”9

Challah is the first mitzvah done when the challah loaves for Shabbat are baked (as we shall see later on, there is a deep significance that the Shabbat bread has come to be known as “challah,” even though challahis taken from weekday bread as well), usually long before Shabbat (on Thursday night or Friday morning). Candle-lighting time is next, as the Shabbat candles must be lit before Shabbat. Finally, the holiness of family purity is revealed on the Shabbat eve, after the Shabbat meal.

Challah in the Torah

The mitzvah of separating challah in the Torah is found in five verses in the portion of Shlach Lecha(Numbers 15:17-21). Shlach Lecha is the 37th portion of the Torah. This portion begins with a recounting of the “transgression of the spies” (cheit hameraglim), which caused the nation of Israel to wander for 40 years in the desert instead of proceeding directly into the Land of Israel . As we shall see the mitzvah ofchallah is the primary rectification for the nation’s abandonment of the Land of Israel .

Whereas challah is one of the three mitzvot dedicated for women, the final verses of this same Torah portion describe the mitzvah of tzitzit13, which is the primary rectification for the men’s role in abandoning the Land of Israel (even though it is definitely permissible for a woman to wear tzitzit and there were many great women who did). Nonetheless, the Torah does not explicitly mention that challah is for women andtzitzit for men.

What Exactly is Challah Bread?

Challah is a loaf of braided bread that is made with eggs, flour, yeast, and salt. It is typically pale yellow due to the number of eggs used in its creation. Some challah recipes actually call for raisins, honey, and seeds, but it all depends on your preferences and what you are celebrating.

Challah Bread is Equally as Delicious as it is Symbolic

Challah refers to the mitzvah (a blessing or good deed) of separating a portion of the dough before you begin braiding as a contribution to the Kohen (priest). This commandment is called the hafrashat challah. Moreover, on some occasions a blessing is said over two loaves of bread, symbolizing the two portions of the manna that was distributed on Fridays to the children of Israel during their Exodus from Egypt.

The bread is covered on the table by a decorative challah cover or a white napkin, which represents the dew that is collected on the manna in the morning. Poppy and sesame seeds sprinkled on the bread also symbolize the manna that fell from heaven.

Challah bread is made in various sizes and shapes that have several meanings. For example:

  • Braided ones, which may have three, four, or six strands, are the most common, and because they look like arms intertwined, symbolize love.
  • Three braids symbolize truth, peace, and justice. Twelve humps from two small or one large braided bread recall the miracle of the 12 loaves for the 12 tribes of Israel.
  • Round loaves, where there is no beginning and no end, are baked for Rosh Hashanah to symbolize continuity.
  • Ladder and hand shapes are served at the meal before the fast of Yom Kippur, the ladder signifying that we should ascend to great heights, the hand that we may be inscribed for a good year.
  • On Purim, small triangular loaves symbolize Haman’s ears; at Shavuot, two oblongs side by side represent the Tablets of the Law (the 10 commandments).
  • The bulkah is a segmented rectangular challah. Sweet challahs with honey or raisins are baked during the festive season to bring joy and happiness.

Even the name “challah” is derived from the Hebrew word used for portion in the biblical commandment of the first of your dough, you shall give unto the Lord a portion for a gift throughout your generations.

There are seven basic ingredients in a challah recipe; water, yeast, sugar, eggs, oil, flour, and salt. There is a special eighth ingredient that is unique to each and every one of us, and that is our souls. When we are making the challah we are putting our personal energy into the dough.

As we add each ingredient we can add a new blessing to our dough, which will enhance the spiritual blessings, for whoever is eating our challah will also ingest these blessings.

Water: Water represents Torah. Just as we cannot live without water we also cannot live without Torah. Water brings life and nourishment to all things, so it represents the attribute of chessed(kindness). As we add the water, we can think of something in our lives that we want G-d to bless us with in abundant kindness. It should flow down into our lives, just as water flows.

Yeast: Yeast is what enables our dough to rise. Yeast represents growth and expansion. So as we add the yeast, we can think of each one of our family members and friends and pray that they grow and expand in their emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Yeast also represents rising, rising to our full potentials. We ask that God help all of us rise to who we are meant to be in our fullest potential. Yeast in Hebrew is shmarim which comes from the same root shomer, which means protection. As we add the yeast, we should pray for protection for ourselves, our families, Israel, the IDF, and all of the Jewish people.

Eggs: Eggs represent the renewal of the lifecycle and the potential of what is about to “hatch.” Again, while making the dough, we pray for life, children, and anything going on in our lives that we want God to reveal to us.

Oil: Oil represents anointing. Oil was used to anoint the Jewish kings. When adding your oil pour a little at a time “anointing” each one of your loved ones by name and pray for their specific needs.

Sugar: Sugar represents anything sweet in our lives, all the revealed good. We ask G0d for open blessings and open good at this time. Sugar also represents emunah (faith). When we have the proper faith then everything becomes sweet. Even the challenges in our lives we realize are all from G-d and all for the best.

Salt: Salt represents discipline or criticism. It is important to have this, but in smaller measure. When adding the salt we should shake a little off the top. As much as we feel we need to rebuke others, we could always give a little less rebuke than we feel is necessary. Salt also represents purification. We pray that anything that is toxic in our lives, minds, souls, and bodies be removed.

Flour: Flour represents sustenance, not only our livelihood, but also our relationships with others. We pray that G-d should bless us with a livelihood that we should use for the right reasons, and that He helps us sustain a relationship that might need some assistance, and thank Him for the relationships we do have that sustain us.

The last step in making the dough is to take all of these essential ingredients that bring their own important blessings and unify them. We think about the oneness of God and the oneness of the Jewish people, and as we knead the dough this is also a special time to pray for anything you, your family, friends, or the world needs.

“ברוך אתה ה’ אלקינו מלך העולם המוציא לחם מן הארץ”
Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech haolam, hamotzi lechem min ha-aretz.
(Blessed are You, Lord our G.d, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth).

“ברוך אתה ה’ אלוהינו מלך העולם, אשר קדשנו במצוותיו וציוונו להפריש חלה תרומה”

Baruch Ata Ado-nai, Elohenu-Melech Ha’olam acher kidechanou bemitsvotav vetsivanou leafrich challah teruma

“Blessed are You, Lord, our G-d, King of the Universe, Who has sanctified us with his Commandments and commanded us to separate challah from the dough”.

The Talmud says that a miracle happened every week: Sarah’s bread kept its freshness from one Friday to another and her Shabbath candles remained lit (Genesis 60-16 בראשית). The divine force that she could relate to – shekhina, divine presence – would never leave her. The Talmud also says that in her role as matriarch, Sarah laid the foundation for the spiritual future of every Jewish woman.

There is a reason why Sarah was the one who had experienced this miracle and not Abraham. Men and women each have a specific direction in their spiritual path. While it is said that men are supposed to bring the divine light to earth, through the study of Torah, women raise this world and allow it to connect to G.od. On the death of Sarah, the miracle no longer occurred, although Abraham continued to separate challah dough. The miracle only resumed when their son Itshaq, who married Rivka, took her into the tent of his mother Sarah. Ah, the presence of a woman!

Women have a primary role in the importance of this mitzvah.

According to halacha (Jewish law), there are three commandments that Jewish women are required to observe:
– challah
– niddah, laws of family purity
– hadlakat nerot, meaning the lighting of candles on Friday evening before Shabbath and on holidays.

It is said that by observing these three commandments (mitzvot), women become the spiritual leader of the house. With her challos, a woman can receive and bestow blessings to herself, to her household members and to anyone who asks her. Just by kneading challah, she has the right to ask G.od to cure many illnesses, since this commandment is the body and soul of Jewish life and it has a great impact on the heart and mind.

Why is challah bread braided?

And what about the shape that is given to this Shabbath bread? What are the origins of this braided loaf of Jewish bread?

Historically, Sephardi Jews and Mizrahi Jews used to give a classic shape to the breads they prepared during the week. On Shabbath, the only importance was to use white flour, usually reserved for the upper class, as opposed to whole wheat flour.

During the early medieval period, Sephardi and Ashkenazi Jews began to use only white flour for Shabbath breads. Some communities, however, especially Persians used whole wheat flour even on Shabbath.

Yemenis still use a thin bread called lahoh for Shabbat. Indian Jews use flat breads such as naan or chapati, and the Jews of Mumbai add coconut milk and sugar to their chapati for Shabbath.

Originally, Ashkenazi Jews too gave no specific shape or name to their challos. They just prepared several kinds of white breads and called them either Yiddish broyt or lechem (Hebrew word for bread לחם). It was not until the fifteenth century that Austrian and South German Jews adopted a new oval-shaped braid challah modeled on a popular Teutonic bread, called berchisbrod or perchisbrod in the south of Germany.

Truth on Birthdays…

 🚨 TRUTH SEEKERS ONLY 🚨!!!

During this teshuvah season…. It has really been on my heart to understand the truth around birthdays and celebrations… my initial thought was, “why do professed believers /people in general celebrate a day in which they were born sinners, into a battlefield of death and decay? With overconsumption of food and too many sweets?”

It literally goes against everything born again believers profess. Jesus says we are to deny ourselves.. how can you deny yourself and also celebrate the day you were born? I don’t think you can. So then, I was like okay wisdom, did anyone ever celebrate birthdays in the Bible? What does Jesus say about this?

Birthdays in the Bible

Birthday celebrations are mentioned in the Bible on three separate occasions and, in each case, something terrible occurred. These three accounts bear brief examination.

The first account is in Genesis. Pharaoh, the Egyptian king, celebrated his birthday by executing his chief baker (Gen. 40:1-23). God gave Joseph special understanding of a dream by Pharaoh’s butler and baker, that the baker would lose his life three days after Joseph interpreted the dream. Joseph understood that Pharaoh would use this occasion—his own birthday party—to put his baker to death. As the dream had foretold, the baker was hung at the party.

In the second account, the New Testament figure Herod the tetrarch reluctantly ordered the beheading of John the Baptist (Matt. 14:3-11). Notice verse six: “But when Herod’s birthday was kept…” During the dancing and merry-making at his birthday party, Herod got carried away and eventually made a promise that he did not want to keep. As a result, a great servant of God lost his life.

The final account is found in the book of Job. The Bible says that Job’s seven sons “went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them” (Job 1:4). These parties were obviously not centered around any kind of celebration related to God, or Job would not have worried that his children may have sinned during these celebration feasts. He was not exactly sure what was going on in their minds, but the very celebration of their birthdays triggered great concern in him (1:5). Apparently, during the birthday party of Job’s oldest son, God allowed Satan to kill all 10 of Job’s children through what appears to be a tornado (vs. 6-1318-19).

Further proof that these birthday celebrations displeased God is found in Job 3. Take time to read the entire chapter carefully. Job spends much time cursing every aspect of the day of his birth. The loss of all of his children, due to a birthday celebration, stunned and sobered him. His words make plain that there is nothing good about the day of a man’s birth. He openly cursed the day he was born. This will be shown to have greater meaning later in this article.

Some who are familiar with these accounts attempt to explain them away by saying that there is no statement contained within them that directly prohibits birthday celebrations. They also ignore Job’s comments described in the previous paragraph. It is true that the above scriptures do not contain a direct condemnation of birthdays starting with the phrase “Thou shalt not…” or something similar. But consider for a moment the central lesson of each of these accounts. They represent the only three birthday parties described in the entire Bible. Absolute disaster occurred on each occasion! If God felt birthday celebrations were something positive and good, why wouldn’t He have recorded one other account where something either good or positive happened? Yet, there is no such account.

The Christmas “Birthday Party”?

But what about Christmas? It is in the Bible, isn’t it? Doesn’t it celebrate Christ’s birth? Didn’t the wise men bring presents to baby Jesus because it was His birthday?

Study any reputable encyclopedia or visit a well-stocked public library and you will discover that Christmas was celebrated by immoral, pagan idol worshippers—people who many times sacrificed their children to pagan gods—2,000 years before Christ was born! December 25th originally marked the time of the winter solstice. These idol worshippers held pagan festivals to celebrate the “rebirth” of the sun when the days began to lengthen.

Let’s briefly examine the subject of the “wise men” who gave gifts to Christ. The scripture that describes this is in Matthew 2:111: “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews?…And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”

It is commonly supposed that these were birthday presents for “baby Jesus.” But is this what the Bible actually says? Absolutely not! Also, they arrived well after His “birthday.” Notice that it refers to Christ as a “young child” rather than a baby. This is one more reason that the gifts brought to Him could not have been “birthday presents.”

A long-standing, ancient custom of the East was to present gifts when one came into the presence of a king. These men understood that they were in the presence of the “King of the Jews.” The Bible has many examples of people sending gifts to kings or presenting them upon arrival into the king’s presence. This custom is common today when ambassadors or others come into the presence of a world leader.

Finally, notice what the Adam Clarke Commentary, volume 5, page 46, states about what really happened on this occasion: “Verse 11. They presented unto him gifts. The people of the east never approach the presence of kings and great personages, without a present in their hands. This custom is often noticed in the Old Testament, and still prevails in the east, and in some of the newly discovered South Seas Islands.” Gifts were customarily presented to kings. The real intent behind this example should now be clear.

God does not even record the exact day His Son was born. And nowhere in the Bible can you find examples of Christ’s disciples or the New Testament Church celebrating His birthday. However, God does tell us the exact month and day when His Son died (Ex. 12Lev. 23:4-5Num. 9:1-5Matt. 26:1-2John 18:28I Cor. 5:7). He expects all true Christians to observe that day annually, in the same month, on the same date (I Cor. 5:7-8). (Read our booklets The True Origin of ChristmasThe True Origin of Easter and Christ’s Resurrection Was Not on Sunday to learn more about these pagan holidays and why the Bible states we are to remember Christ’s death instead of His birth.)

Think for a moment! Every year, millions of professing Christians celebrate the supposed birthday of Jesus Christ. Yet they do not properly observe the day that Christ died, which God clearly identifies and records in great detail in His Word. He commands His followers to observe this memorial annually. Jesus warned about such misguided professing Christians, saying, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. Howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men” (Mark 7:6-8). Each year, during the Christmas and Easter seasons, Jesus’ warning is proven right!

The Day of a Man’s Death

We have just read that the Bible explains the day of a man’s death is better than the day of his birth. This is a stunning statement. Most people do not think of death as particularly wonderful. When it happens to a family member or close friend, it is usually a day of terrible sadness and emotion. No matter how or when death comes, no one celebrates the event. The Bible describes death as an enemy and a defeat. Consider some of the following verses describing death. Keep in mind that the Bible still says this day is better than the day of birth.

Solomon also wrote, “As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he that has labored for the wind?” (Ecc. 5:15-16). Does this sound like a day to look forward to? The Bible still states that the day this verse describes is better than the day of one’s birth.

The apostle Paul was inspired to write, “For the wages of sin [that you earn by breaking God’s laws] is death” (Rom. 6:23). Death is the penalty for sin. It is not pictured in the Bible as a day of triumph or, as so many like to picture, “as a friend one meets at the end of life’s highway.” Paul also wrote, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23) and “…it is appointed unto men once to die” (Heb. 9:27). Sin leads to death. John was inspired to write the definition of sin: “Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” (I John 3:4). The penalty—the wages—of sin is death. This is not an event to look forward to.

But there is hope!

Jesus Christ is returning to this Earth to rule—to put all things, including His enemies, under His feet. This includes the enemy called death. Notice: “Then comes the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death…So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Cor. 15:24-2654-56).

So this life is a physical, temporary existence. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. Considering this, what is so “happy” about a “birthday” into an ungodly, carnal-minded world, only to die and never see life again? Why celebrate being born into a world that is cut off from God’s divine guidance—a world of misery, confusion, poverty, ignorance, famine and disease—that could erupt into violence at any time?

God can and will give you eternal life. He wants you to have it. He wants you to live life to the fullest and experience the way of life that produces real peace, joy, abundance and security. But life has to be lived His way, according to His rules.

Paul wrote, “For since by man [Adam] came death, by Man [Jesus Christ] came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive…The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening [living] spirit…The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly” (I Cor. 15:21-224547-49).

When compared to the awesome future God has in store for us—becoming spirit beings who will never taste death and will not be limited to the physical laws of this material universe (read all of I Corinthians 15)—celebrating one’s physical birthday seems foolish.

Origin of Birthdays

Then where did birthday celebrations come from? The astonishing answer is from the pagan practice of astrology! Thousands of years ago, when men looked up into the night sky and charted the stars, they invented calendars and calculated the birth dates, to the very hour, of kings, rulers and their successors. These ancient pagan astrologers meticulously examined horoscopes and birthday omens because they believed that the fate of the rich and powerful might affect an entire society. Even to this day, men have been putting their trust in horoscopes instead of God.

In ancient Egypt, the pharaohs ordered businesses to close on their birthdays and gave enormous feasts for hundreds of servants. In ancient Greece, wealthy males joined birthday clubs composed exclusively of men who shared their birth date. Once a month, the club celebrated with a feast. When a member died, he left money to help pay for future parties. In Persia, noblemen observed their birthdays by barbecuing an ox, a camel and a donkey and serving hundreds of small cakes to the celebrants.

In ancient Rome, the emperor gave huge parties in honor of his own birthday, which included parades, circuses, and gladiatorial combat. The celebration of days was so important to the average Roman citizen that the Roman calendar designated a majority of days for some form of celebration—including many birthdays of gods and famous men.

The Roman calendar, with its emphasis on continual celebration, has had great influence on modern society. Consider the following quote about the origin of the Roman calendar:

“Our [Roman] calendar is not Christian in origin. It descends directly from the Egyptians, who originated the 12 month year, 365 day system. A pagan Egyptian scientist, Sosigenes, suggested this plan to the pagan Emperor Julius Caesar, who directed that it go into effect throughout the Roman Empire in 45 B.C. As adopted it indicated its pagan origin by the names of the months—called after Janus, Maia, Juno, etc. The days were not named but numbered on a complicated system involving Ides, Nones, and Calends. It was not until 321 A.D. that the seven-day week feature was added, when the Emperor Constantine (supposedly) adopted Christianity. Oddly enough for his weekdays he chose pagan names which are still used” (Journal of Calendar Reform,Sept. 1953, p. 128).

Modern birthday parties and celebrations by children take their form mainly from Germany, where the birthday child received gifts, chose a menu, and received a candle-ringed butter or jam cake. The book The Lore of Birthdays, by Ralph and Adelin Linton, gives a brief look at the history of birthday celebrations: “The Greeks believed that everyone had a protective spirit or daemon who attended his birth and watched over him in life. This spirit had a mystic relation with the god on whose birthday the individual was born.”

The book continues: “The Romans also subscribed to this idea…This notion was carried down in human belief and is reflected in the guardian angel, the fairy godmother and the patron saint…The custom of lighted candles on the cakes started with the Greeks…honey cakes round as the moon and lit with tapers were placed on the temple altars of [the god Artemis]…Birthday candles, in folk belief, are endowed with special magic for granting wishes…Lighted tapers and sacrificial fires have had a special mystic significance ever since man first set up altars to his gods. The birthday candles are thus an honor and tribute to the birthday child and bring good fortune.”

Saying “happy birthday” to friends and loved ones was society’s superstitious way of protecting them from evil spirits. Birthday thumps, bumps, pinches, etc., were said to bring luck and send away evil spirits. Party snappers, horns and other noisemakers were also intended to scare off bad-luck spirits.

It should now be clear that birthdays are not only unbiblical, they are pagan!

God’s Sacred Calendar

It is important to note that God has His own calendar. Much could be said about this subject. This brief explanation is vital. Typically, the number of days in God’s year is not the same from year to year. They are based upon the moon—not manmade calculations that include leap years.

God’s calendar includes seven extra 30-day months in each 19-year cycle. This calendar rule, alone, ensures that birth dates would vary widely from year to year throughout one’s lifetime. It is as though the sacred calendar was designed by God to make birthday celebrations impossible to observe, while the Roman calendar was specifically designed to make celebrating birthdays more convenient.

The date of February 29, which only occurs once every four years, creates a special problem for all those with this birth date. However, only one person in every 1,461 is affected by this “leap year” problem. The irregularities of God’s sacred calendar, with its extra 30-day month, occurring seven times in a 19-year time cycle, would affect one person in every eight!

Why It Matters to God

Why does God care whether or not you celebrate birthdays? After all, it is a chance for you to give presents to someone and make him or her feel good. What could be wrong with this?

Here is what God commands: “Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the heathen are dismayed by them. For the customs of the people are vain” (Jer. 10:23).

After God freed Israel from slavery, He clearly instructed them, “After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein you dwelt, shall you not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, where I bring you, shall you not do: neither shall you walk in their ordinances” (Lev. 18:3). God commanded that they not defile themselves with the practices and customs of the surrounding nations (vs. 24-29). “Therefore shall you keep My ordinance, that you commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that you defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God” (vs. 30).

This is an emphatic command from God. He does not want His servants dabbling in the customs of this world.

But what about those who reach age 80, 90 or 100 years old—should we ignore altogether the many years of life experiences they have gained? No. In our current society, where senior citizens are routinely ignored and considered to be a burden, it is certainly permissible to acknowledgesomeone who has reached a considerable number of years. Someone who has lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, the Atomic Age, the creation of the modern nation of Israel, the Cold War, men walking on the moon, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Kennedy assassination, civil rights marches, race riots, the rise and collapse of the Berlin wall, and the worldwide growth of the Internet, has reached an age where special honor should naturally be conferred upon them.

Proverbs 16:31 states, “The hoary [white or gray] head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.” People who have lived to great age, sometimes reflected by pure white hair, often have great wisdom and experience to share with younger generations. Simple acknowledgment that they have reached age 70, 80, 90 or 100 shows them honor and appreciation. It is not wrong to acknowledge that one has reached a milestone in a long life.

What we have described above is far different than celebrating birthdays with all of the usual pagan traditions! Celebrating the day of one’s birth, as though it were a special occasion, is wrong. It violates God’s command. It keeps people selfishly focused on their temporary, physical lives, when God’s purpose is to give mankind eternal life in His Family. True Christians should be focused on how their lives are preparing them for rulership on this Earth at the Return of Jesus Christ.

Realize that God hates all pagan customs and traditions—birthday celebrations are not an exception!

WHAT'S NEXT?

 What’s next?

The final seven years – the road to Armageddon We’ve already discussed several of the major events that will happen in the final seven years. The confirmation of the covenant discussed previously is the event that marks the beginning of the final seven years. This confirmation has not happened yet. The Quartet, or the Big Four; the EU, UN, US and Russia, have met to confirm the “Roadmap for Peace” in the Middle East several times but can't make it stick yet. The plan includes all the necessary steps to confirm the covenant. Today the Arab League and the Quartet along with other entities are doing everything they can to establish a Palestinian state and bring an agreement together between Israel and Palestine. Israel leaders have even stated that they are willing to share sovereignty of the Temple Mount and give the West Bank (Judea) back to the Palestinians.

There have been many meetings of all the powers I just mentioned in the last few years, that could very well lead to this event that God calls the Confirmation of the Covenant. If they decide on a plan and implement it and make it stick, where the borders of Israel are drawn and the Temple Mount is shared, then it IS that event and that means that from that day, the day that it actually happens and they sign a treaty, there will only be 7 years remaining until the Battle of Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ! And, in the end of 2017 with President Trump declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and Russia's Putin saying he recognizes West Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel, as well as the Saudi's coming on board, it seems that this event is truly imminent today! Everything else necessary for the end time to be upon us has happened or is happening now. Most people think it cannot happen because the Jewish temple has not been rebuilt, but the temple does not have to be standing until half way through the final seven years (when the abomination of desolation takes place), and you should know that an organization called the Sanhedrin, working with the Temple Institute in Israel, is planning on rebuilding the temple off-site, just as the first temple was built, and when the temple mount is shared (probably placed under UN security control) they will be able to put it together very quickly. All of the utensils, furniture, clothing, etc., is completely finished and ready for use in the temple, and the blueprints and plans for the temple itself are done (http://www.templeinstitute.org/blueprints-for-the-holy-temple.htm).

The Great Tribulation Daniel 11 and 12 show the Antichrist's reign and specifically states that there will be 1290 days (3.53 years) from the time of the Abomination of Desolation until the “end of these things”. And another specifically stating that there will be “a time (one year), times (two years) and an half (half a year)” (3.5 years) till all things shall be finished.

There will be a time of trouble (Dan 12:1) such as never was (the great tribulation), the people that know God will be strong (Dan 11:32), some of those shall fall (Dan 11:35), but the wise shall understand while the wicked will not (Dan 12:10). Blessed is he who waits until 1335 days (Dan 12:12). When we look at all the scriptures describing this period of time, we see that the 3.5 years will be the time of the wrath of Satan, and the last 45 or 75 days will be the wrath of God (the 7 Vials), sometime between the 1260th day and the 1335th day. In Revelation 13:5 we see that power is given to the Antichrist for 42 months (3.5 years). In Revelation 12 we see that the devil will be cast to earth, having great wrath because he knows his time is short, and that it will be for 1260 days in v.6, and a time, times and half a time in v.14, or 3.5 years. This “time of trouble” that will last 3.5 years, is the time of the wrath of Satan. The Vials, which are the wrath of God, will be poured out in the last 75 days, between the 1260th and 1335th days, possibly just in the last 45 days.

The 3.5 years of great tribulation will be for the saints of God, not the world as a whole (Luke 17:26-30, 1 Thess 5:1-4, Rev 7:9-14). Matthew 24:15-21 shows us that when we see this abomination of desolation that then there shall be great tribulation, and then (Matt 24:29) immediately after the tribulation we will see the sixth seal and the seventh trumpet and we will be gathered to the Lord at that time. This also most likely begins the pouring of the vials. The saints will NOT be here for the vials (the wrath of God)(1 Thess 1:10 and Rom 5:9). The wrath of God will be to “destroy them which destroy the earth” (Rev 11:18).

THE BIBLE the TRUTH vs. ISLAM QURAN (FALSE)

Take a look at the following list: The Islamic prophecies listed are from multiple sources. They all come from the Q'uran, Hadith, Sunnah and other Muslim sources - see references below Please remember that these Islamic prophecies are not biblical but they show how very deeply the Muslims of the world will be fooled because they mirror so closely what will actually happen, and it will seem as if their prophecies are coming true even though they are supporting the devil and his Antichrist. • Bible: The Antichrist is an unparalleled political, military, and religious leader that will emerge in the last days. - Dan 8:24-25, Dan 11:40, Rev 13:7-8 • Islam: The Mahdi is an unparalleled political, military, and religious leader that will emerge in the last days. • Bible: the False Prophet is a secondary prominent figure that will emerge in the last days who will support the Antichrist. - Rev 13:11-15, Rev 19:20, Rev 20:10 • Islam: the Muslim Jesus is a secondary prominent figure that will emerge in the last days to support the Mahdi. • Bible: The Antichrist and the False Prophet together will have a powerful army that will do great damage to the earth in an effort to subdue every nation and dominate the world. - Rev 13, Dan 7:7, Dan 7:23 • Islam: The Mahdi and the Muslim Jesus will have a powerful army that will attempt to control every nation of the earth and dominate the world. • Bible: The False Prophet is described essentially as a dragon in lamb's clothing. - Rev 13:11 • Islam: The Muslim Jesus comes bearing the name of the one that the world knows as 'The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ." Yet the Muslim Jesus comes to murder all those who do not submit to Islam. • Bible: The Antichrist and the False Prophet establish a new world order. - Rev 13:16-17 • Islam: The Mahdi and the Muslim Jesus establish a new world order. • Bible: The Antichrist and the False Prophet institute new laws for the whole earth. - Dan 7:25, Rev 13

WATCH...WAIT...AND PRAY.. Bible Prophecy

Watch...

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth , and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy...

Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Take heed...

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Remember, the early church warned the last generation that unfulfilled prophecies would be a source of derision... We should be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets...

2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Hear the words of this prophecy and keep the things that are written therein...

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy , and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

The word "all" includes Bible prophecy...

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

30% of scripture is prophetic...  and Jesus said it was to help us believe...

John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Jesus shows the men of His day that prophecy is being fulfilled before their eyes...

Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Jesus chastises the pharisees for not knowing the time and who He is...

Matt 16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Luke 12:54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

56 Ye hypocrites , ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

We should definitely KNOW when the time is near and we should WATCH and PRAY!

Luke 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

The parable of the virgins with oil = we should be prepared and watch...

Matt 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil ; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

We are NOT IN DARKNESS that that day should overtake us as a thief!  Only those in the world will be overtaken as a thief...

1 Thess 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

We should know when the signs appear, and should instruct others, and should be ready when the time comes...

Jesus said to the church, IF YOU DON'T WATCH, I WILL COME ON YOU AS A THIEF! It's ONLY those who don't belong to Jesus that will be surprised!

Rev 3:3  Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Mark 13:37  And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

If you recognize and have realized you are too, the bride of Christ, then it is imperative to prepare oneself for His call.

The bride of Christ must always be ready; in and out of season. I pray for all who read this myself as well, to go onto perfection and maturity in Christ Jesus our LORD and Saviour

Revelation 19:8

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Revelation 19:9

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Esther 2:12

Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

Matthew 25:1-4, 10  At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.... (10) But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet.

•• The Church is called to be the radiant bride of Christ!2 Corinthians 11:2 says, "I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him." The members of Christ's Church are "promised," we are engaged now to Him, for eventual presentation to Him as a perfect bride, a "pure virgin" to be married to Christ in a profound spiritual union.
• Revelation 19:7  The wedding of the Lambhas come, and His bridehas made herself ready.
•• It is very important that Jesus’ bride be “ready” for Him.  “His bride has made herself ready (Rev. 19:7)  Howdoes the Bride-Church make herself ready for her Bridegroom Jesus?
•• “Oil”! (vss. 3,4,8,9,10) — the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The radiant Bride of Christ will be walking in an abundant anointing of the Spirit of God. Oil in the Scriptures frequently symbolizes this Holy Ghost anointing:
• 1 Samuel 10:1, 6  Then Samuel took a flask of oiland poured it on Saul’s head.... (6) The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power.
• 1 Samuel 16:13  So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.
•• Think of how this Holy Spirit anointing affected our SaviorJesus Christ on earth. In John 1:32-33, as in the other three Gospels, we see Jesus at age 30 being “anointed” [ see Acts 10:38] by the Holy Spirit. Only after that anointing did Jesus perform the “first of his miraculous signs” (John 2:11).
• The Son of God had walked on earth for 30 years without performing any miracles. Then, after His anointing by the Holy Spirit, He began doing miracles (John 2:11), healings, exorcisms, and more.
•• Back now to our main text ... the virgins with the abundant oil of the Holy Spirit went into the wedding banquet.
•• Like the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 2:9), Jesus’ Bride-Church needs to be crying out to God for a “double portion”of His Spirit. Lord, give us more “oil”, please! A double portion!
• The end-time Bride-Church, like the early Church, urgently needs the mighty baptism with the Holy Spirit.

•• Now, how else does the Bridal Church make herself “ready”?

So what does it really mean to be the bride of Christ? This beautiful analogy gives us a small glimpse of the love God has for us. It also speaks volumes about what happens to us when we are born again.

Here are 4 ways to be ready for the wedding feast:

  • Say “yes” to the proposal.

There’s only one requirement to becoming someone’s bride – saying “yes” to the proposal. Have you said “yes” to Jesus? Will you be His bride? As cliché as it sounds, it’s true. All we have to do is say “yes.”

Keep in mind, wearing a white dress and fixing your hair does not make you a bride. Saying “yes” to your groom is what makes you a bride. Many of us try to doll ourselves up to look like a bride with good deeds and accomplishments. But showing up to a wedding with a wedding dress on doesn’t make you the bride. You must have a relationship with the groom.

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to transform you into a worthy bride.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. – Ephesians 5:25-27

How glorious it will be when we are presented to King Jesus as a pure and spotless bride! Not even a wrinkle in our gown! No imperfections of any kind!

This is what happens when we are born again. The Holy Spirit transforms us from the inside out. It’s this transformation that allows us to be worthy of marriage to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

  • Put on the dress.

Every woman knows that the proposal is just the beginning.Being a bride and preparing for the wedding are two completely different things! We become a bride when we say “yes,” but no bride shows up on her wedding day wearing rags. We put on the dress, and we doll ourselves up.

As the bride of Christ, we need to prepare ourselves and be ready for the wedding feast. Revelation 19:7-8 tells us that the bride is given “the finest of pure white linen to wear.” And this linen represents “the good deeds of God’s holy people.”

If our fine linens are good deeds, then it is through holy, obedient lives that we prepare ourselves for our groom.

I should make one thing clear: We don’t earn the status of “bride” by doing good deeds. Putting on the dress is something we do inresponse to the proposal… it’s not how we become a bride. There are no hoops to jump through. There are no rituals. Becoming the bride of Christ simply means we’ve said “yes” to Jesus.

Our good deeds, our obedience, our pure lives are simply ways that we prepare for eternity with our groom. We strive to be holy as He is holy. And we do it all for Him – our groom.

  • Spend time with the groom.

It seems silly to point this out, but most of us want to marry someone we’ve actually spent time with! The more time with spend with Jesus before meeting Him face to face, the more rewarding it will be when we finally do.

As the bride of Christ, we'll one day be with Him; and because of the cross, we'll be a worthy bride.

1. Purity: The first and most important pillar in the true church is purity. This is not a hollow pillar of a merely external purity. No. It is solid through and through. It is purity of the heart, and it grows from the seed of the fear of God deep within the heart. It is not by clever brains but by pure hearts that the true church of Christ is built. We cannot build the church if we don't have spiritual revelation on God and His ways - and only the pure in heart will be allowed to see God in their hearts (Matthew 5:8).

2. Peaceableness: Righteousness and peace always go together. They are twins. The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace (Romans 14:17). True wisdom is never argumentative or quarrelsome. It does not strive. It maintains harmonious relationships with everyone, as far as possible. It is impossible to quarrel with a man who is filled with Divine wisdom, for such a man is a peaceable man. He may be firm and he may be hated by compromisers. But he is always peaceable. Jesus told His disciples that when they travel to preach the gospel, they should stay only in the house of "men of peace" (Luke 10:5-7). We must be men of peace, if we are to build God's house.

3. Consideration: The Bride of Christ is always fair to others, gentle, patient, forbearing and courteous. She is never harsh or rough but always considerate of the feelings of others. When the church is supported by this pillar, it becomes easy to bear with one another - even if some are slow of understanding or crude in their manners. The problem, we begin to realise, is not the crudeness of our brother or sister, but the impatience that dwells within us. And so we fight the right enemy - our Self-life - and not our brothers and sisters.

4. Willingness to Yield: One who cannot receive admonishment and exhortation, or who feels that he has gone beyond that stage, is truly foolish, even if he is an elder or an older man (Ecclesiastes 4:13). In India especially, many people have the heathen idea that "older people are wiser". This may be true in earthly matters but certainly not in spiritual matters. Jesus did not choose any of the older people in the synagogues to be his apostles. he chose young men. Older people in the church often find it difficult to receive exhortation from a younger brother who may be the elder in the church and also far more godly. But that is because of their pride. Those who are willing to receive correction become wise (Proverbs 13:10). And so where the brothers and sisters in a church are eager to receive exhortation and correction, a truly glorious church will be built. The wise man loves those who exhort him faithfully and will eagerly seek out their company. 'Submit to one another' (Ephesians 5:21) are the words written on this pillar.

5. Fullness of Mercy and its Good Fruits: The Bride of Christ is full of mercy - not just occasionally merciful. She has no problem forgiving anyone, freely and cheerfully from the heart. She does not judge or condemn others, but rather exercises compassion towards them like her Bridegroom. This mercy is not just a mental attitude but finds expression in good fruits that are brought forth in her actions. She does good in all the ways she can to all the people she can at all the times she can.

6. Steadfastness: A brother who has Divine wisdom will be free from all crookedness. He will be wholehearted and straightforward, with a single eye, free from doubts and hesitation. He will not be double-minded, but strong in faith in God, and he won't be looking at his own weaknesses, but at the promises of God. Such a brother knows that victory over all conscious sin is possible here and now. He is a dependable person - who can be trusted at all times to keep his word. He is steadfast and unmovable. You cannot make him bend his convictions or to compromise in any matter. He is straight and upright as a rod.

7. Freedom from Hypocrisy: The Bride has more spiritual content inwardly than others can see in her externally. Her hidden life is better than the opinion that others have of her external life. This is the exact opposite of the 'spiritual adulteress' or the 'Harlot,' whose so-called spirituality is only meant for receiving the honour of men. What she has is actually 'religiosity' and not true spirituality. The bride watches her inner thoughts, motives and attitudes far more than her external words and actions. She longs for God's approval over her inner life and cares nothing at all for man's approval of her external life. By this test, each of us can know whether we are part of the Bride or of the Harlot.

The Bride of Christ has the seed of wisdom implanted in her heart and so she will have these seven characteristics growing in her year by year. Although she is still far from perfect, she is pressing on and growing towards perfection.

Who Prepares the Bride?

First, let us see who does the preparing. As we saw in our study of Esther, all the things necessary for Esther’s preparation were given to her — but it was Esther herself who did the preparing. Let’s look at how Esther’s preparation is a pattern for us today.

Notice the following passages:

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Revelation 19:7)

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness <1345> of saints. (Revelation 19:8)

In the above passages, in verse 7, we see the Betrothed Wife — the Bride — has made herself ready. Notice that it was the Wife who made the preparation. We also see in context, that the Lamb speaks of our Bridegroom-Messiah, and His (Betrothed) Wife speaks of the company of those Believers who choose to make themselves ready.

In verse 8, we see her ‘array’ (her clothing and covering) was granted, or given to her, by the Holy Spirit. We also see that this clothing is of linen, which we are told speaks of the righteousness <1345> [“righteous deeds; actions”] of the set-apart Believers.

So the preparation of the Bride involves the Bride’s action, as well as the action of the Holy Spirit. Both are necessary. This two-fold process is confirmed in Esther:

And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purificationwith such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women. (Esther 2:9)

Here we see that Hegai, the eunuch, as well as the seven maidens given to her, all picture the Holy Spirit, given to the Bride to provide help, and to provide everything that is needed to the Bride for her purification — her preparation. In Esther 2:9, notice the two-fold process that made up her preparation: (1) “he speedily gave her;” and (2) “with such things as belonged to her.”

The preparation of the Bride of Messiah is a co-operation between the Holy Spirit, and the Bride.

When and Where is the Bride Prepared?

Next we will address the question, “When does this preparation take place — after going in to the presence of the King — or before?” Is the Bride prepared in heaven — or on earth? Again we will look at a few passages in Esther:

Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;) Then thus came every maiden unto the king… (Esther 2:12b-13a)

Notice also that Esther’s preparation was over a twelve-month period of time, which was six months of one preparation, and six months of another. And it was all to be done before going into the presence of the King.

Let’s look further. Let’s look at the following Bride preparation passages in Matthew 25:1-13:

Matthew 25:1-13

  1.  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
  2.  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
  3.  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
  4.  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
  5.  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
  6.  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
  7.  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
  8.  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
  9.  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
  10.  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
  11.  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
  12.  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
  13.  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

In the above parable, five Virgins were called wise, and 5 were called foolish. There are two groups — a wise group and a foolish group. What were the two groups based on?

We see in verse 10, “They that were ready” went in with him to the marriage. In verse 11 we see the “Other Virgins” who came afterwards, but they could not enter in.

The first thing we notice is that the five WiseVirgins had wisdom. The five Foolish Virgins, however, lacked Wisdom.

Furthermore, the Ten Virgins were divided into two groups, based on being “Ready.” Those Virgins that had Wisdom had prepared themselves ahead of time, and they were Readyto go in with the Bridegroom, when He arrived.

Those that lacked Wisdom, however, had not prepared themselves. They were not yet Ready.

Notice that the five Wise Virgins were “Ready” before going in with the Bridegroom to the marriage.

Conclusion

We are led to conclude that the reason the Foolish Virgins were not allowed to enter in when the Bridegroom came, is because they were NOT YET READY.

The Foolish Virgins were perhaps unaware that they were not ready. They had been Born-again, but had not personally sought the Bridegroom in the Scriptures, nor had they sought those things of Wisdom necessary for their preparation, that the Bridegroom gives to all liberally, to all who ask Him (James 1:5).

And so the group of Foolish Virgins were divided from the group of Wise Virgins.

This division confirms what we have seen thus far — that being ready, being prepared, is a requirement to be met, in order to be allowed to enter in with the bridegroom — and that this preparation must occur BEFORE the arrival of the Bridegroom.

We may now conclude that the preparation of the Bride is NOT done in heaven, but only on earth, before going in with the Bridegroom.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him:
for the marriage of the Lamb is come,
and his wife hath made herself ready.
(Revelation 19:7)

“Build up” is the Hebrew word salal(H5549). It refers to the practice of making a road higher than the surrounding terrain (TWOT entry 1506). Figuratively, it can also mean “exalt” (BDB definition). Since we’re talking about highways, this makes me think of the “narrow way” which leads to eternal life (Matt. 7:13-14). Perhaps preparing the way for Messiah’s second coming involves building up this way so that other people can more easily see where they should walk.

Eph. 4:13-16—Until we all arrive at the oneness of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, at a full-grown man, at the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, that we may be no longer little children…but holding to truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, Christ, out from whom all the Body, being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and through the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.

Heb. 6:1a—Therefore leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us be brought on to maturity.

Col. 1:28—Whom we announce, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man full-grown in Christ.

John 14:20—In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

John 15:4a—Abide in Me and I in you.

1 John 4:15—Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God.

Rev. 21:3a—And I heard a loud voice out of the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men.

Rev. 21:22—And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

Develop and grow in your spiritual gifts; and remember we are to covet only spiritual gifts especially prophecy because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.  It is used for edifying and building up others, yourself and renews your mind. Listen to the word every day. Most importantly love and worship the LORD JESUS with your whole being and soul. Trust in Him absolutely.  Love your neighbor as yourself.
